In the Community
Our commitment to providing the highest quality service extends
beyond our customers moving and storage needs. We are proud to be
involved with our communities. Among the ways the Hilldrup team
gives back to the community are:
Hilldrup Participated in the Rappahannock United Way 2011
Campaign Kickoff Breakfast
Rappahannock United Way’s Campaign Goal for 2011 is to advance
the common good by impacting the areas of Education, Income, and
Health. Achieving this goal will ensure that thousands of
individuals are helped in their time of need thus uplifting the
community as a whole. RUW President Janel Donohue inspired the Expo
Center Ballroom filled with representatives from local banks,
health and human service organizations, local governments, school
systems, defense contractors, and more with a quote by Christopher
Reeve: “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to
persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Great job
to the United Way staff and of the volunteers and supporters for
inspiring the community to "Live United" and good luck in the
coming year's campaign.

Hilldrup Donates 700 Boxes of Crayons to the Sodexo
Foundation
Since 2006, the Sodexo Foundation has supported the Backpack
Food Program. Through this program Sodexo partners with local food
banks and schools to provide backpacks filled with nutritious,
easy-to-prepare, non-perishable good for students who are at-risk
for hunger when free or reduced price school lunches are not
available. Hilldrup provided 700 boxes of crayons to be included in
the backpacks for the children.
Hilldrup participates with Eighth Annual CSX
Charity Train to help raise over $315,000 for
charities
On Saturday April 30, 2011, Hilldrup Moving and Storage joined CSX
Transportation in its Eighth Annual Charity Train event helping to
raise over $315,000 in charitable donations for the American Heart
Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Angelwood,
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Daniel Foundation, Muscular
Dystrophy Association, Volunteers in Medicine, and others.

Doug Barnett, Vice President of Global
Business Development, represented Hilldrup while dining with guests
aboard CXS's fleet of specialty cars many of which were built in
the early 1920’s as our nation celebrated an end to World War I and
entered a golden period of prosperity and growth. "These cars have
served as office cars for railroad presidents, lounges for United
States presidents and congressmen, and even as transportation for
the Kentucky Derby, "Barnett said. The event was a great success
and many charities will benefit from the generous donations
raised.

Hilldrup Leads the Way in 2009 United Way Campaign
For more than a decade, Hilldrup has served as a Pacesetter for
the Rappahannock United Way. Pacesetters are area companies that
make a sizeable donation to the United Way and serve in a
leadership capacity. Hilldrup was again a Pacesetter this year for
the campaign that kicked off in September and runs through the end
of 2009. The United Way supports over 60 programs assisting area
residents in a wide variety of ways, from helping with children’s
education to providing much-needed medical services. In addition to
Hilldrup’s corporate donation, employees donate via pledge cards,
and also hold raffles and other activities to raise money. So far,
the 2009 campaign has been a big success.
Corporate Office Collects 26 Pints in Annual Blood Drive
In January, Hilldrup’s corporate office held its annual blood
drive, collecting 26 pints of lifesaving blood. Each pint saves
about 3 lives, so more than 75 lives in the community will be
touched by the effort. Hilldrup has been holding the blood drive
for over nine years, and has expanded the drive from once a year to
twice yearly. The company partners with INOVA and the Red Cross for
the drives.
Corporate Headquarters Holds Raffle for Breast Cancer Awareness
Month
Across the nation, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For
the second year in a row, Hilldrup’s corporate office held a raffle
in support of the cause. The office collected $200 as employees
purchased 100 raffle tickets priced at $2 each. On October 16, a
basket filled with fun, pink office supplies was awarded to one of
our Move Coordinators. All proceeds from the raffle were donated to
the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Stage Trailers
Many of our locations have a stage trailer available for
community organizations to use. Hilldrup trailers have served as
parade judging stands, food drive collection sites, main stages for
charity walks and races and more.
