Hilldrup Delivered 180 Care Packages to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU

As part of our partnership with Children’s Hospital Foundation, we were pleased to host a supply drive for the hospital’s patients, families and team members.

We are proud to be partners with Children’s Hospital Foundation to support children and their families during what is often a challenging chapter as they seek treatment at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR).  In addition to our yearlong commitment to donate a percentage of each in-state move or project in the Richmond region to CHoR, up to $10,000, our teams in Richmond and Stafford recently held a supply drive.

Held during May and June, we invited our employees to fill boxes with donations of items that were used to create care packages for CHoR’s patients, their families and team members. Our team answered the call as we were able to make over 180 care packages for patients ranging in age from infants to teenagers as well as their parents and the CHoR team members caring for them.  These packages are given to patients to provide them with something age-appropriate and special to play with or enjoy while seeking treatment.  Items included books, toys, blankets and loveys as well as crafts, playing cards and word searches.  For parents, we included hygiene items and crossword puzzles, and the CHoR team members’ care packages included snacks, gum and water to keep them fueled and ready to care for the patients.

On Tuesday, June 25, Jordan McDaniel Hinkebein, Senior Director, Internal Communications and Special Projects, and William Sweet, Richmond Local Planner, took the boxes to CHoR to donate them to the Child Life and Children’s Hospital Foundation team.  They also had the opportunity to see and learn more about the hospital and the lifesaving work their team performs each and every day.

It was our pleasure to support CHoR and their patients in this way, and we look forward to continuing to partner with them throughout the year!
