Hilldrup’s Stafford and Richmond teams host lemonade stands to support Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU

Our Stafford and Richmond teams had a blast hosting lemonade stands while raising $1549 to support Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s oncology and hematology services.

Hilldrup’s support of the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) and its Children’s Hospital Foundation was made even sweeter as our Stafford and Richmond teams held lemonade stands to benefit the hospital’s hematology and oncology services as part of the annual LemonAid event.

Held each year, this is the first time our teams joined in on the fun and put the squeeze on childhood cancer!

Jordan McDaniel Hinkebein, Senior Director, Internal Communications and Special Projects, and Justin Mahon, Vice President, Workplace Solutions, brought their families to assist at the stand in the Fredericksburg area on Saturday, July 20. Held from 10am-12pm in front of the Olde Towne Butcher, generous community members enjoyed lemonade, complimentary homemade baked goods and fun conversation while donating $989!  Patrons could donate via cash, check or online via credit card.  Thanks to DPR Construction, the first $5000 in online donations from any lemonade stand held that day were matched dollar-for-dollar; we are thrilled that our team held one of the first stands and was able to double the impact from online donations.

The Richmond team, including Steve Norton, Vice President and General Manager, Richmond; Vince Radford, Director, Workplace Solutions; William Sweet, Local Dispatcher; William Johnson, Operations Manager; Jason Dodson, Warehouse Manager; and Griffin Roberts, Project Manager held their lemonade stand on Saturday, August 3 from 10am-1pm at Green Top in Ashland.  They raised $560, bringing the total that Team Hilldrup fundraised for CHoR’s hematology and oncology to $1549!

A highlight of both days was hearing from families whose children had benefited from care at CHoR, truly bringing the cause full circle and even closer to home.  Jordan’s daughter, Collins, Justin’s kids, Lexie and Greyson, and Steve’s daughter, Madison, had a blast as they learned the value of supporting others while also honing their sales and operational skills!

We can’t thank our communities enough for making this the sweetest fundraiser yet!
