“This is the Way” to Raise Over $25,000 for Rappahannock United Way
Thanks to the generosity of our employees, Team Hilldrup raised over $25,000 for our workplace campaign supporting Rappahannock United Way!
Hilldrup was excited to kick off our 2024 – 2025 workplace campaign supporting Rappahannock United Way (RUW) through our creative campaign events as inspired by this year’s theme, This is the Way. As a nod to the vastly popular Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, the theme inspired Team Hilldrup to get involved and give back in some stellar ways.
Thanks to the generosity of Hilldrup’s Stafford employees, approximately $25,600 was raised for RUW whose mission is to provide services for the local Fredericksburg region in the areas of education, financial stability and healthy living, with an emphasis on assisting people in the ALICE (asset limited, income constrained, employed) population.
Check out how Hilldrup gave back during our workplace campaign week from October 7-11, along with photos of the fun, below!

To kick off our corporate giving, ePledge cards were sent to employees’ email and hard copy pledge cards were available at our office. All Access Passes were also available for purchase, giving recipients access to participate in all events throughout the week. Everyone was encouraged to clean out their pantries and donate canned food items to support food banks that are actively supporting hurricane relief efforts across Hilldrup’s footprint as well. Finally, our basket raffle went live so employees could have plenty of opportunities to purchase tickets for a chance to win their favorite basket(s)!

Day 2 of our 2024 – 2025 workplace campaign was a packed with fun activities! We kicked off our Silent Auction with 20 items up for grabs, including an Apple AirPods Max, Apple Watch Series 10, Oura Ring, a $200 gift card to lululemon and much more!
Next, we grabbed a partner for our annual Water Balloon Toss in the front parking lot. Congratulations to our Water Balloon Toss Winners who dethroned the champions of the last couple years! In first place was Hunter Watson and Gray Hart while runners-up included Zach Crocker and Justine South. Hunter and Gray will keep the trophy for the next year!
Following, we hosted an event as a true nod to Star Wars fans: a Build Your Own Lightsaber competition! Using craft supplies, participants channeled their creativity to create a one-of-a-kind lightsaber.
We can’t forget that an all-you-can-eat pizza lunch, including drinks and dessert, was also hosted. Hilldrup supplied the pizza, desserts and drinks so for just $3 employees could enjoy it all, and all donations will go directly to RUW. Congratulations to Matthew Dankanich who had the “golden ticket” under his slice of pizza, winning him a $50 gift card!

On Wednesday we wore pink – for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, of course! We took a team photo and were grateful for senior managers who cooked up a delicious waffle breakfast from 7AM – 9AM, all in support of donations to RUW.

Employees could play virtual bingo throughout the day for a buy-in of $5 with a chance to win gift cards, congratulations to our winners!

To wrap up the week, winners were drawn for our basket raffle! Congratulations to all of our winners!
Finally, on October 18, a two-week period had passed, and our 50/50 raffle winner was ready to be randomly selected and announced. Congratulations to Peter Meyer who won $597!
Thank you to all of our employees who gave their time, money and non-perishable goods all towards bettering our communities through RUW and our Hurricane Relief Drive. We’re especially grateful to Hilldrup’s RUW Committee, led by Tamika Mitchell, Vice President, Human Resources. The donations of food, supplies and financial support will impact our Fredericksburg community and beyond to those who could use these resources the most. We appreciate everyone’s continued support and participation
